The parent company Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp will change the stock ticker Fb to META on the eve of the market opening on June 9. This will completely end the rebranding of the company, which has been going on since the fall of 2021. This was reported by Bloomberg.
What happened
In the fall of 2021, Mark Zuckerberg announced the rebranding of Facebook. It is now called Meta, which emphasizes the company’s focus on the development of the metaverse. At the same time it became known that the company plans to change the stock ticker to sell its shares. Initially, Fb was to be renamed MVRS. But in January 2022, an investment fund registered under the META ticker released the symbol. Therefore, after the opening of the market on June 9, the shares of the technology giant will start selling under a new ticker – META.
It is worth noting that the new ticker does not appear at the best of times for the company. Since the beginning of the year, its shares have fallen by more than 40% due to fears of slowing down the development of the owner of social networks.
