The popular free photo bank Pixabay has closed access to services for Russians. Now the residents of the aggressor country will try to go to the website of the service and see the condemnation of the war in Ukraine, which was unleashed by Russia.
The changes were announced by the head of the Ministry of Finance Mikhail Fedorov.
– All right. No more photos for Russians while they turn a blind eye to photos of destroyed Ukrainian cities and mutilated civilians, the head of the ministry said.
Now watch
Fedorov added that this is one of the steps towards Russia’s total digital isolation.
Pixabay is used by a huge number of users around the world – it is one of the largest services with free photos. You can even find videos of thousands of active authors. Pixabay was founded in 2010 and is now widely used by bloggers, journalists, graphic editors and advertising producers.
In early June, the Russian market left Canva – a popular graphic editor. Since the beginning of the war, the owners of the service have condemned the war in Ukraine and provided users with special templates that should help cover what is happening in our country. Now Canva has noticed that it is best to limit access to the service for Russians, as coverage of the realities of the war in Russia is very small.
