The global supply of projectors does not match the demand. This is due to a significant shortage of semiconductor components, and the upcoming World Cup, which will be held in Qatar in November-December, will further increase the demand for them. This was reported by the Taiwanese edition of Digitimes, citing the president of Acer Digital Display Business, Victor Chien.
Mr. Chien explained that semiconductor component suppliers do not pay enough attention to projector components, preferring consumer electronics. Now the supply volumes of Acer projectors satisfy only 50% of demand, and this situation, according to the top manager, will not change until the fourth quarter of 2022.
The situation is also exacerbated by the fact that the US has imposed additional customs duties on Chinese-made projectors, and products imported to America are made mainly in Taiwan, although some models are also produced by enterprises in India, Vietnam and Indonesia.
Acer’s product range includes projectors for both business and education. According to the results of the first quarter, the company became the largest supplier in Croatia (50% of the market), Bulgaria (42%) and Romania (30%).
