According to the Phoronix portal, AMD is preparing to release the most inexpensive video card of the Radeon RX family based on the RDNA 2 architecture. Its mention appeared in the Linux 5.19 kernel code, and insiders have already named the alleged technical characteristics of the future “state employee”.
According to reports, the “heart” of the novelty will be the Navi 24 graphics chip with reduced specifications. It is assumed that the power consumption of the GPU will be no more than 30 W, and the video card will be positioned as an inexpensive solution for hardware acceleration or a “stub” for an additional monitor. Detailed GPU specifications are not yet known, but some of them can be judged by the already presented mobile version.
The Radeon RX 6300M, like the more powerful RX 6400, has 768 stream processors, but is inferior to it in terms of “game” cache (only 8 MB) and memory bandwidth (PSP). The maximum frequency of the RX 6300M GPU is 1512 MHz without overclocking, the amount of video memory is 2 GB, and the memory bandwidth is 64 GB / s. If the desktop version of the GPU receives similar characteristics, it will be the slowest solution in the proprietary series.
