Blac Chyna vs. Kardashians: Attorney says bias is an ‘effort to save face’

Attorneys for the Kardashian family have accused Blac Chyna of filing an “unfounded attempt to save face” after the reality star claimed a US judge was “undeniably hostile and extremely biased” towards her and her attorney .

Hyna, whose real name is Angela White, sued the famous family for defamation in 2017 after claiming she played a role in the cancellation of their reality show Rob & Chyna.

Her lawsuit, which was dismissed last week, claimed the Kardashians falsely told producers that she assaulted then-fiancé Rob Kardashian in 2016.

In documents obtained by the PA news agency, lawyers for the Kardashians said their efforts to “scapegoat” Judge Gregory Alarcon, who was presiding over the matter, were “frivolous” and “dishonest”.

“Plaintiff alleges that since April 19 and 20, 2022 — the date both sides of the jury made opening statements — Judge Alarcon has displayed an ‘undeniably hostile and grossly biased’ attitude toward her and Ms. Ciani, but plaintiff and her attorneys nevertheless proceeded without complaint and Judge Alarcon presided over a 10-day trial,” the documents said.

“Plaintiff’s statement and affidavit of disqualification is a baseless attempt to save face after losing in court and has no legal basis to disqualify Judge Alarcon from the presidency over any other matter in this proceeding.

“While the plaintiff and her attorney, Lynne Ciani, are understandably disappointed with the jury’s defense verdict after an emotionally charged trial, their attempt to scapegoat Judge Alarcon is reckless, dishonest, and deserving of sanctions.”

The documents added that Chyna had taken a “wait and see” approach and only made the motion to disqualify Judge Alarcon from the presidency in future matters in the case after the verdict against her had been announced.
