A British man and woman have died in a tragic motorcycle accident while traveling in Vietnam, police have confirmed.
The Leicester couple were driving through Hanoi’s Quang Nam province early Monday morning when they crashed into an electricity pole.
Local news reports identified them as Denver Barfield and Thompson Peth May who were staying at a hotel on Cửa Đại Street.
officers told News from Vietnam that they were riding a bicycle from Hoi An City to Dien Ban Township when they collided at the roadside around 3:40 a.m.
No information was released about who was controlling the motorcycle or if anyone else was involved in the crash, he reported Leicestershire Live.
Honored was Mr Barfield, a marketing graduate from Aston University in Birmingham, who was described as kind, caring and “extraordinary”.
“Denver my heart aches writing this it still doesn’t feel real,” wrote a friend.
“You were the most extraordinary person I have ever had the privilege of meeting and it breaks my heart to think that I will never see you again.
“You always somehow made everyone’s day better and I can’t stop thinking about all the memories I have of you being one of the best friends anyone can ever have. You are so loved and will be missed by every single person who knew you, rest in peace.”
Another wrote: “RIP my brother Denver Barfield you were such a good boy. I had so many fun times with you when we were working together and at school. Always so kind and got such a good heart. I will definitely be missed.”
A third friend wrote: “I can’t believe what I read tonight. Such sad news! We had so many memories together skating and endless conversations when we were younger.
“Such a kind and caring boy! Another life taken too soon with so much to live and look forward to.”
According to local reports, the case has been referred to provincial-level police for further investigation.
