Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton urged Rangers fans to “do nothing naughty” in Seville as he delivered a cheeky parody of official Ibrox club videos.
Former Ibrox players such as Graeme Souness, Richard Gough and Ian Durrant have appeared in videos on Rangers’ social media channels, urging fans not to let the club down as they prepare for the Europa League final in Spain are.
The former Gers heroes urged fans to represent the club well as they travel to Wednesday’s encounter with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Durrant said, “Be respectful, bears. Go have fun, have a party and bring home the trophy.”
Souness said: “Have a party but make sure you behave because you’re going there as an ambassador for our football, our great football club, great Glasgow Rangers.
“You have to go and behave or we’ll get all the trashy headlines that will hurt us for a long, long time. Please go and behave and have a great time.”
Sutton couldn’t resist the temptation to poke fun at Celtic’s rivals and posted a message of his own on his Twitter account.
Wearing one of his vintage Celtic tops, the pundit said: “Hello to all Rangers fans out there in Seville. I only follow messages from Graeme Souness, Ian Durrant and Richard Gough.
“Please behave yourself out in Seville and try not to let it get you down.
“Okay, come on, do the right thing guys. Be good and behave – and don’t do anything naughty out there. OK?”
Tens of thousands of Rangers fans, with or without tickets, are expected in the Andalusian capital.
The last two European finals with Rangers were overshadowed by scenes of violence.
Rangers were banned from European competitions for a year after supporters clashed with Spanish police at the Nou Camp pitch at the end of their 1972 Cup Winners’ Cup final win against Dynamo Moscow.
In 2008 violent scenes erupted in central Manchester after an estimated 200,000 fans traveled south ahead of Rangers’ UEFA Cup final defeat by Zenit St Petersburg.
39 police officers were injured during the riots and a Crown Court judge later described it as “the worst night of violence and destruction that Manchester city center has suffered since the Blitz”.
