A large-scale project to digitize historical documents is being launched in Ukraine

The Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine plans to digitize more than 13 million sheets of genealogical documents.

This was reported by the State Archives Service of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

“Installation of equipment in the Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine for large-scale digitization of genealogical documents has been completed with the participation of FamilySearch International and OSG Records Management LLC,” the statement reads.

It is noted that in a few years it is planned to digitize 13.6 million sheets of documents, of which 1.4 million – by the end of 2022.

According to the Ukrderzharkhiv, Orthodox church documents, Roman Catholic documents, metrics of Jewish communities from the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century, including funds 127 “Kyiv Spiritual Consistory”, 224 “Collection of Metric Books” will be available online after the works. , 990 “Pereyaslav-Boryspil Spiritual Consistory”, Radomyshl, Skvyra, Tarashchansky, Zvenigorod-Uman, Zhytomyr, Rivne and Novograd-Volynsky, Lipovets-Berdychiv, Kyiv Roman Catholic Deaneries (funds 1040-101046, public books – Kaniv, Pereyaslav, Vasylkiv, Skvyra, Lipovets, Tarashcha, Kyiv, Uman, Zvenigorod, Radomyshl, etc.

As reported, the State Archives Service of Ukraine has launched an online project “Single window of access to digital resources of Ukrainian archives”, created on the ARCHIUM platform. The resource has collected almost 1.5 million copies of the three central archives.
