Administrative centers to be opened in Kherson to obtain Russian citizenship

“Everyone who wants to get a Russian passport will be able to do it in the near future. Administrative centers will be opened, first in the regional center, and then in other municipalities, where you can write an application and obtain Russian citizenship, ”he said in an appeal published on the Telegram channel of the military-civilian administration.

The balance also announced the receipt of a large number of applications for Russian citizenship.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on simplifying the acquisition of Russian citizenship in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Amendments were made to the document, by which a simplified procedure was provided to residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.

On the same day, the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, said that the authorities of the region were ready to provide full support in organizing the issuance of Russian passports to residents of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

The military-civilian administration of the Zaporozhye region reported that it was preparing the infrastructure for organizing the issuance of Russian passports. At the same time, it was noted that the first residents of the Kherson region had already applied for Russian citizenship.

On April 16, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that in the first quarter of 2022, citizens of Ukraine more often than others received Russian citizenship. The ministry also noted that more than 287.6 thousand people have moved to Russia from Ukraine since 2014 as part of the program for the resettlement of compatriots.

On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. Moscow explained that the tasks of the special operation include the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, the implementation of which is necessary to ensure the security of Russia. The decision was made against the backdrop of aggravation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
