Apple has lost the rights to its most famous slogan

Apple has relinquished the rights to the brand’s Think Different slogan. This was reported by iMore.

The European Court of General Jurisdiction has rejected Apple’s appeal against the decision of the European Union’s Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Earlier, EUIPO deprived the American manufacturer of the rights to its most famous slogan, Think Different. The report says that Apple has lost its rights because it has not been used for a long time.

The slogan was used by Swiss watchmaker Swatch. In 2016, the company’s lawyers claimed that Apple would be disqualified because the US IT giant had not used it for five years.

Apple owns the rights to the slogan in Europe through petitions filed in 1997, 1998 and 2005. The court noted that the company representatives’ argument that the term “think different” was used in advertising was not credible. According to court officials, Apple last used the slogan more than a decade ago.

The slogan Think Different appeared on Apple’s advertising campaign in 1997. In 2002, the company stopped using it in its materials.
