Apple is already disappointed in the iPhone 14. What went wrong?

Amazing, beautiful, gorgeous – what epithets Apple just does not litter, describing the new iPhone, which is released annually. Apple smartphones are really cool. Even if the new products are technically or externally slightly different from the previous generation models, they are still bought. It’s just that Cupertino knows what to bet on. A little twisted here, a little combed there – and here’s a brand new device, and everyone already wants it. But this year, it seems, Apple was disappointed with the iPhone 14 before its release.

Although Apple usually does not disclose any details about future smartphones, we probably know too much about the iPhone 14. This allows us to better understand why Cupertino is disappointed in their new smartphone and want to release it as small as possible.
What will be the iPhone 14

To begin with, let’s run through the facts about the new iPhone, as can be considered almost indisputable. But keep in mind that this only applies to the base version. Everything written below does not apply to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Old design from iPhone 13
Older processor from iPhone 13 (A15 Bionic)
Increased RAM from 4 to 6 GB
Old main camera module from iPhone 13
Lightning connector (USB-C will not be available)
Former (or similar) battery capacity with iPhone 13
Price as in the iPhone 13

Judging by this, the iPhone 14 will be only a slightly improved version of the iPhone 13. The only more or less sensible innovation that awaits the novelty is an additional 30% to the original amount of RAM. Now the base version of the iPhone 14 will have as much RAM as the flagship models. However, it is possible that the iPhone 14 Pro will receive not 6 but 8 GB. But it is not known for sure. However, it is clear that the iPhone 14 does not pull on a new number in the name, and it should be called at best iPhone 13S, and even iPhone 13C.

Why? And because Apple has only once in its history released an iPhone with a processor from last year’s model, except for the iPhone SE. That was the iPhone 5c. It came out in 2013 with the iPhone 5s, but received a chipset from the iPhone 5. Apple packed it in a plastic case and positioned it as an affordable iPhone. But, as we remember, she failed this experiment, and the model was quickly withdrawn from production.
The new iPhone 14 is worth buying

In the case of the iPhone 14, the situation is completely different. If the iPhone 5c was just an experiment, the iPhone 14 is a continuation of the tradition of all the flagship entry-level iPhones. However, this year, for the first time, Apple is going to provide it with an old processor, albeit with increased RAM. But along with the old design, it is logical that no one wants to buy such a device, even at the old price.

Why did this happen, ask? The fact is that Apple has a lot of problems. The cost of many components has risen, the effects of the corona crisis and geopolitical instability have limited supplies of many parts, some factories have closed, and some components have been sought elsewhere, such as neon gas and sapphire glass previously purchased in Russia.

Therefore, in Cupertino, realizing that the iPhone 14 will want to buy fewer people, decided to release it in smaller quantities than originally planned. Apple initially thought it would make at least 240 million iPhone 14s, but then decided to reduce that figure to 220 million with the possibility of a smaller adjustment.

It may seem that a 10 percent or even 20 percent cut in production is not critical. But first, for Apple, it means losing billions of dollars in profits, which it will not get. And, secondly, more top models may be sold more expensively. So they will be bought even less willingly. Therefore, Cupertino is just waiting for what will happen, betting on chance.
