Apple may introduce the new realityOS in a few days

Apple may introduce a new operating system. It will be called realityOS and is designed for virtual and augmented reality headsets. The announcement of the new OS may take place at the WWDC conference, which will begin on June 6.

Two separate trademark applications filed on December 8, 2021, with deadlines for filing foreign documents by June 8, 2022. This is just two days after Apple’s main report on the WWDC. Another application on the USPTO website lists the date the foreign application was submitted by June 9, 2022.

The documents themselves are not marked as Apple trademarks, but several clues indicate that they are owned by technology giant Cupertino. The documents are called “Realityo Systems LLC”, and, according to experts, the company’s corporate address is the same address that Apple used in previous years to keep the titles of macOS California before launch.

Earlier this year, Apple accidentally referred to realityOS in the App Store update magazines, which confirms its existence in a certain capacity. About rOS, short for realityOS, was first reported by Bloomberg in 2017 with the internal code name “Oak”.

According to Bloomberg, realityOS will initially run on a high-quality, niche AR / VR headset that Apple plans to announce this or early next year. Apple recently unveiled its mixed-reality headset on its board, implying that the product is nearing completion.

The headset will have two 4K micro-OLED displays, 15 camera modules, powerful processors equivalent to M-series chips, eye tracking capabilities, hand gesture support, surround audio and other features. The headset is expected to cost approximately $ 3,000 after launch.

There are rumors about whether Apple plans to announce the preparation of this equipment at the WWDC this year. But the trademark application dates suggest that Apple may share more of its vision for the future of AR / VR. For the first time since September 2019, Apple is also inviting individual members of the press and invited developers from the App Store community to attend a special event at Apple Park on June 6.
