AvtoVAZ announced the timing of the launch of production

AvtoVAZ is likely to start car production in early June. This was announced on May 24 by the general director of the company Maxim Sokolov at a meeting with the staff of the Togliatti Automobile Plant.

“Literally at the beginning of next month, we should start production, start producing models and gradually restore it to its full extent,” he said.

Sokolov stressed that one of the main tasks of the enterprise is the preservation of its staff.

“And I, together with the team, set even more ambitious goals. Still, we were, remain and will remain the flagship of our Russian automobile industry, we will do our best to achieve this. Of course, this includes increasing import substitution, maybe new suppliers and supply chains, primarily, of course, in the Samara Region, the Volga Federal District, but perhaps not only,” he added.

On the eve of AvtoVAZ officially announced the appointment of Sokolov as the head of the company. The corresponding statement said that the board of directors of the car manufacturer made a unanimous decision.

It also became known that AvtoVAZ intends to produce Renault Duster and Renault Sandero cars in the future.

On May 16, it was reported that the share of Renault (Renault) in AvtoVAZ was transferred to the NAMI Institute subordinate to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, which will own 67.69% of the company’s shares. The remaining shares will be kept by Rostec. At the same time, AvtoVAZ will continue to produce the entire line of Lada cars at factories. The manufacturer will also carry out service maintenance of Renault cars in the Russian market.

This decision was made at the end of April. As the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov explained, Renault decided to transfer the shares of AvtoVAZ and Avtoframos to Moscow as a subject against the backdrop of a shortage of funds to maintain the performance or activities of its divisions in Russia.
