Canadian man shot dead by police was armed with an air rifle

An armed man who was shot dead by police near a school in Toronto was carrying an air rifle. On Friday, May 27, reports Global News with reference to the staff of the SIU special forces.

SIU provides an independent assessment of incidents involving the police, especially if the actions of law enforcement officers led to someone’s death. Investigating the incident in Toronto, agency staff concluded that the weapon of the victim could be used to inflict severe injuries on others, including those incompatible with life.

The incident took place in Toronto on May 26. Officers received a report of an armed man walking down the street. Due to the threat of shooting, four local schools were forced to close.

Upon arrival, the police found a white man in his 20s with a rifle. The attacker was neutralized. Later it became known that he died from his gunshot wounds.

May 24 in Uvalda in Texas (USA) there was a shooting at an elementary school. According to the latest data, the victims were 18 children and three adults. It was also specified that two law enforcement officers were among the victims.

According to state governor Gregory Abbott, the attacker was identified as 18-year-old Salvador Romas, a student at Uvalde High School, so he easily entered the building. Before opening fire at an elementary school, he also shot his 66-year-old grandmother. She is alive but in critical condition.
