Central Bank: agreements on connecting Mir cards with two more countries will be reached in the summer

In the summer, it is planned to reach an agreement on connecting Mir cards with two more countries, said the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank, Olga Skorobogatova, during the conference “Regulation of commercial banks by the Bank of Russia, organized by the Association of Banks of Russia.

“We see that we have no problems within the country, but our citizens travel and will continue to travel abroad, and, of course, 10 countries that accept it is not enough. We definitely want tourist countries to accept the Mir card. I have already said that, in addition to 10 countries, two more countries are currently in such a working discussion.These are the most famous tourist countries, we plan to reach an agreement in the summer, and they will gradually organize their infrastructures for accepting the Mir card. – said the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank.

In April, Skorobogatova reported that the National Payment Card System (NSPK) was working on launching Mir cards in Cuba and two other countries, which have not yet been disclosed.

Now Mir cards are accepted in Turkey, Vietnam, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

NSPK, which is the operator of the Mir cards, was created by the Russian authorities in 2014 after the imposition of a number of sanctions against Russia. NSPK announced the start of issuing the first Mir cards in December 2015.
