China intends to receive a third of its electricity from new sources

China plans to increase the share of renewable energy sources to 33% of total energy by 2025. This was reported on June 1 by Reuters, citing a new five-year plan of the State Planning Agency of China.

By 2025, China’s renewable energy consumption is expected to reach about 1 billion tonnes of conventional coal equivalent.

China’s National Development and Reform Commission says the country aims to increase the share of non-fossil fuels to 20% from 15.4% in 2020. The commission added that new energy sources will account for more than half of the growth in energy consumption by 2025.
