David Tennant and Catherine Tate in Doctor Who begin filming in London

Last week, it was revealed that fan favorites David Tennant and Catherine Tate will reunite in Doctor Who, in a spinoff slated to air next year.

David Tennant and Catherine Tate were pictured in London filming the upcoming series of Doctor Who.

It was only announced last week that one of the most beloved Doctor Who couples has reunited for a storyline slated for release in 2023.

It will coincide with the show’s 60th anniversary.

David, 51, began playing the Doctor in 2005 with the final episode airing on New Year’s Day 2010.

Catherine, 52, played her companion Donna Noble and left in an episode called Journey’s End in 2008.

And now, in the first pictures, the duo are spotted filming on set in Camden, north London.

They were seen getting ready for scenes at a cafe outside the popular clothing store Cyber Dog.

Catherine flashed a smile as she arrived on set wearing black jeans, white shoes, a white sweater, and a beige jacket.

She also wears black-rimmed sunglasses, a cap, and holds a puffy green tote bag.

David, meanwhile, is pictured looking serious as he pushes Bernard Cribbins – who plays Wilfred Mott, Donna’s grandfather – in a wheelchair.

He wears a navy blue jacket, a simple button-down shirt and a gray tie when filming scenes with his co-stars.

Catherine, who was wearing a beige jacket, later changed into a green one as she accompanied David for the scene.

One photo shows a dramatic moment during filming, where the coffee bar burst into flames while everyone ran.

Another shows a crew member standing over a letter as he examines the Tardis searching the right scene.

The black sign seen at the top reads ‘police public call box’ in white lettering.

Catherine and David’s return was announced last week, with host Russel T Davies sharing his excitement online.

“They’re back! And that seems impossible – first, we announce a new Doctor, and then an old Doctor, along with the wonderful Donna, what the hell is going on? ” he say.

“Maybe this is a missing story. Or a parallel world. Or a dream, or a trick, or a flashback.

“The only thing I can confirm is that it will be spectacular, when two of our greatest stars reunite in the battle of life.”

Earlier this month, it was announced that actor Ncuti Gatwa would replace Jodie Whittaker as the star of Doctor Who with Davies returning as host, having left in 2009.

Gatwa became the 14th Time Lord on the popular sci-fi show and the first person of color to star in a lead role. It’s unclear how well Tennant and his return will fit at this stage.
