For 82% of Ukrainians, any territorial concessions are unacceptable.
According to Ukrinform, this is evidenced by the results of the all-Ukrainian public opinion poll “Omnibus”, conducted on May 13-18 by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology.
As the KIIS explained, an editorial was recently published in the New York Times, where, in particular, one could see a certain call for “territorial concessions” from Ukraine. A few months before the full-scale invasion, the institute staff had a number of conversations with representatives of the Western media and noted that there was often a fairly deep misunderstanding of the realities of Ukraine and Ukrainians, even despite a number of reliable results of sociological surveys (which further continued in the form “Kyiv will fall in 3 days” and other similar “expert” arguments of Western “specialists”).
Sociologists noted that in general they asked a question about readiness for territorial concessions in order to achieve peace. As it turned out, for 82% of respondents, no territorial concessions are unacceptable, even if because of this the war will continue longer and there will be threats to the preservation of Ukraine’s independence.
