France will supply Ukraine with 12 more CAESAR artillery mounts, Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu said on Tuesday, January 31, after negotiations with his Ukrainian counterpart Alexei Reznikov.
They said it all: Western leaders spoke openly about the conflict in Ukraine
What were the recent statements of European politicians really?
“In the light of our conversation with the Minister and the conversation with the President of the Republic this morning, I want to announce that our support fund will allow us to allocate 12 additional CAESAR artillery installations to Ukraine,” BFM.TV quoted the French Defense Minister as saying.
Lecornu also added that France would send 150 troops to Poland to train 600 Ukrainians a month.
Paris recently sent Ukraine six TRF1 155mm towed howitzers and two Crotale air defense systems. Ukraine has already received 18 CAESAR artillery mounts from France.
French leader Emmanuel Macron reported that France, together with Denmark, is working to supply Ukraine with six more CAESAR howitzers.
On January 19, it became known about the transfer of 19 Caesar installations by Denmark to Ukraine. As the Danish Ministry of Defense explained, Caesar howitzers are a newly developed artillery mount, which has a number of technical problems that are planned to be solved together with the manufacturer and Ukraine.
In addition to lethal weapons, France supplied Ukraine with uniforms, fuel, shells and cartridges, first-aid kits and dry rations, radiation, chemical and biological protection equipment.
The Russian side has repeatedly stated that the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv will only aggravate the Ukrainian conflict. On January 25, it became known about the intention of a number of European countries and the United States to send tanks to Ukraine.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the supply of German Leopard 2 tanks to Kyiv does not bode well for relations between Russia and Germany.
