Glass Animals, Ed Sheeran and Rolling Stones win for UK at Billboard Music Awards 2022

The biggest winners of the night were Drake, Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift, who each scooped up a bunch of awards at a glitzy ceremony held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The UK was outstandingly represented at the Billboard Music Awards 2022 on Sunday night – with Glass Animals, Ed Sheeran and The Rolling Stones performing top gong ensembles of the night.

The flashy ceremony was hosted by music legend Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with some of the biggest names in music coming to perform, present and accept their awards.

With dozens of categories to pass on during the night, there were some huge winners – with some artists picking multiple gongs during the night.

However, a few titles have gone to UK performers – with chart-topping band Glass Animals winning the Top Rock Artist award, winning Imagine Dragons, artist solo Machine Gun Kelly, Eurovision icon Maneskin and rocker Twenty One Pilots.

The band’s single Heat Waves was also nominated for Top Viral Song and Top Streaming Song, but fell short of Doja Cat and The Kid Laroi’s Kiss Me More and Justin Bieber’s Stay single.

Taking to Instagram after winning their Top Rock Artist award, the band wrote: “We won!!! Longest #1 climb ever ha!”

Glass Animals also won the Top Duo/Group award, but lost to BTS.

Ed Sheeran also won the night, winning Billboard’s Top Artist globally (excluding the US) – stripping BTS of the title, fellow Brit Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo and Canadian singer The Weeknd.

And The Rolling Stones beat The Eagles, Genesis, Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Weezer and Harry Styles to claim the Top Tour award.

The biggest winner of the night was 19-year-old singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo, who took home an impressive seven awards.

She took home Top New Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Streaming Artist, Billboard Global 200 Top Artist, and Radio Song Artist awards. Top.

She also beat Adele in two categories – winning her for both the Top Female Artist award and the Billboard 200 Top Album award.

Drake was also the big winner of the night with awards for Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Best Rap Artist, Best Male Rap Artist and Best Rap Album awards.
