Google Pixel Tablet will receive support for third-party active styluses

It became known that the upcoming tablet Google Pixel Tablet will receive support for the Universal Stylus Initiative standard. This is indicated by an updated list of certified USI devices. This means that it will be possible to interact with the gadget using USI styluses from different manufacturers

A Google Tangor device with the model name Tablet appeared in the USI database, which is presumably an Android-based tablet computer. Curiously, the Google tablet has already appeared in the USI database, since the company announced the release of the device only in 2023. Representatives of Google and USI have not yet commented on this issue.

Recall that the USI alliance was formed in 2015, and Google joined it in 2018. The purpose of the association is to develop a single standard for active pen input devices (styluses) that are compatible with each other and different computer platforms. In addition to Google, the initiative is supported by Intel, Dell, Lenovo, LG Display, Wacom, Sharp, and others.

Earlier this year, the USI 2.0 standard was announced, which includes support for wireless charging. This allows compatible styluses to be charged simply by placing them near the wireless charger. What version of the standard will be supported by the Google tablet is still unknown.
