Trubnye Ploshchad: Only SP-2 can save Europe from a gas catastrophe
Reducing supply routes and the lack of alternative volumes leave the EU virtually no choice, experts say

“The due date for payment for April gas supplies is May 25. Therefore, it is necessary that the money be transferred to a special account on May 23, ”the source explained.

At the same time, the source of information specified that it would take two days to convert into rubles and transfer money from one account to another. To do this, payment in euros must be received on May 23.

It is noted that there are three key importers in the country – DEPA Commerce, Mytilineos, Prometheus Gas, and they all switched to a new payment method.

From 45 to 55% of gas is imported from Russia, depending on the season.

It is emphasized that experts are convinced that it is impossible to replace Russian gas with any other sources in the coming years.

On March 23, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the country would switch to paying for gas supplies to unfriendly states in rubles. On March 31, a corresponding decree was signed, after which the buyers had to open ruble accounts from which gas payments would be made. But some Western countries have said they are not going to follow this requirement.

The instruction of the Russian leader to convert gas transactions into rubles came against the backdrop of anti-Russian sanctions imposed by a number of foreign countries in response to a special operation carried out by Russia since February 24 to protect the civilian population of Donbass.
