“I am more attached to the Ukrainian land”: Lucescu found a reason for De Zerbi to leave Shakhtar

Yesterday, the head coach of Dynamo Kyiv Mircea Lucescu was on the podium of the Stade de France among the guests of honor of the Champions League final. Before the match, the Romanian specialist gave a short interview to the Italian media, in which, in particular, he touched upon the topic of Ukrainian football.

“Now, of course, a very difficult period for everyone. But everything must be done to give people hope. Football during the pandemic has helped a lot. Now there is a war… Sooner or later it will end. And football must continue now – for the people, for the players, for everyone. Football can’t just be practice.”

The Romanian specialist also expressed his opinion regarding the near future of his counterpart from Shakhtar.

“De Zerby has every reason to leave. I am more attached to the Ukrainian land, because, unlike him, I spent many years here. I can’t take and just leave my players, ”Tuttomercatoweb quotes the Romanian specialist.

Recall that Lucescu, who will turn 77 on July 29, is the oldest of the current coaches in the world. During his work in Ukraine, the Romanian won 22 trophies with Shakhtar and three trophies with Dynamo.

Lucescu has been working at the Kiev club since the summer of 2020.
