I’m a WhatsApp genius – a major new update lets you be VERY sneaky with group chats

WHATSAPP is working on a new feature that will allow you to leave groups silently.

It’s often awkward to leave a group chat because everyone will be notified.

So if you leave a chat, you can’t hide it.

Thankfully, WhatsApp is developing a silent exit feature that could land this year.

A screenshot of the feature was revealed by WABetaInfo WhatsApp investigators, who regularly scan the app for new features.

“This screenshot is very clear: if you want to leave a WhatsApp group, other people in the chat will not be notified,” WABetaInfo said.

“Only group admins can see who leaves the group, but not others.”

Normally, leaving a group will post a system message in chat.

This will let everyone in the group know you’re gone.

But with the new change, only the people running the group will notice.

Now in a small group, your farewell can still be noted – at least at some point.

But in larger groups you can slip out so calmly.

Unfortunately, there is no exact date when the feature will be released for everyone.

“This feature is currently under development in WhatsApp Desktop beta,” WABetaInfo explained.

“And there are plans to roll it out to users in a future update.”

WhatsApp recently made another big change to groups.

It’s now possible to invite an incredible 512 people to a single chat.

WhatsApp groups were originally limited to 100 people before changing to 256 in 2016.

But the latest update rolling out now doubles the participant cap for group chats.

It comes before WhatsApp adds its long-awaited community feature.

This allows you to create “parent groups” that contain many group chats.

If you want to try new features first, consider joining the WhatsApp beta using our guide below.
