In the European Union, a wave of migrants is expected by the end of the year because of possible famine

Europe is expecting approximately 150,000 migrants from Africa and the Middle East by the end of this year. Such a wave, according to forecasts, can be triggered by the food crisis and expected famine due to war in Ukraine.

“More than 150,000 migrants will be adopted this year, the EU Member States will accept this year,” said Cyprus Nikos Nuris Minister Nikos after meeting with the MED5 Groups in Venice.

According to the UN Agency for Refugees, this year about 36,400 applicants for shelter and migrants have already arrived in Italy, Spain, Greece, Cyprus and Malta – in addition to 123 318 arrived in 2021.

The UN Crisis Coordinator Avin Avad said that the lack of wheat and other cereals could affect 1.4 billion people, adding that additional negotiations were needed to unlock ports in Ukraine to avoid hunger and mass migration around the world.

“If the wheat remains blocked in the ports of the Black Sea, we have to expect a greater flow of migrants,” said Italian Interior Minister Luciana Laorgese.

It should be noted that the problem of unlocking Ukraine’s maritime exports because of the threat of world famine is focus of attention of world leaders, remaining unresolved, for more than two months.
