Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, commenting on the desire of French President Emmanuel Macron to keep open channels of communication with Vladimir Putin, said that the best way to negotiate with him is on the battlefield.
According to European Pravda, Kuleba said this in an interview with Le Journal du dimanche.
“President Macron has the right to decide with whom to speak. However, experience has shown us that the best place for discussions with Putin is the battlefield,” the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stressed.
“You can always call Putin on the phone, it will not bring results. It does not make sense, because he is a liar, and I think that Emmanuel Macron knows this. I remember the extraordinary efforts he made before the war to prevent conflict. It worked. Nothing indicates that Putin has since changed his mind or is ready to negotiate,” he added.
At the same time, Dmitry Kuleba agrees with the statement of the French president that “at the right time” Ukraine can make peace with Russia through negotiations.
“Any war ends with diplomacy. It remains to be seen under what conditions we will approach this moment. In the face of the winner? Or the loser? That’s what matters. We want to sit at the negotiating table in the position of the winner. And this is decided on the battlefield,” – he said.
As you know, Emmanuel Macron, even after the start of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, found it necessary to continue talking with Putin. Therefore, the President of France has been criticized more than once.
