Microsoft to help document Russian war crimes

Microsoft will work with the Ukrainian government to document war crimes committed by the Russian invaders.

According to Ukrinform, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced this on Telegram.

“Our government will cooperate with Microsoft in documenting Russian war crimes. And xBox will officially launch in Ukraine. Finally, we will have Ukrainian accounts, and the consoles will have the Ukrainian language,” he said.

It is noted that such decisions were agreed in Davos at a meeting with Microsoft President Brad Smith.

According to Fedorov, the Microsoft team also plans to help Ukraine’s digital industry during its recovery.

“We have been cooperating with Microsoft for a long time, and they actively support Ukraine during the war: they became one of the first companies that suspended all new sales of products and services in Russia in early March and provided free cloud services for Ukraine until the end of 2022,” – Fedorov stressed.

“Microsoft has supported and will continue to support Ukraine,” it was very important to hear this from Brad Smith,” added the Deputy Prime Minister.

The company calculated that by their initiatives they provided Ukraine with digital support for $242 million: for financial grants, promotional campaigns, free access to products and services, and equipment.

As Ukrinform reported, today, on May 23, after the official opening of the forum in Davos, Minister of Digital Development Mikhail Fedorov met with Director General of the Swiss International Development Agency Patricia Danzi. As a result of the meeting, it became known that the budget of the Swiss-Ukrainian program “Electronic Governance for Accountability of Government and Participation of Society” (EGAP) this year will increase by 1.5 million francs.
