Monument to the deceased commander of “Sparta” Volodymyr Zhoga opened in Donetsk

A monument to the Hero of Russia and the DPR, the battalion commander of Sparta, Colonel Vladimir Zhoga with the call sign Vokha, was opened in the capital of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Donetsk, on the Alley of Heroes in the Park of Culture and Leisure. The head of the republic Denis Pushilin attended the opening ceremony of the monument.

This is our dream too… This is how it will be thanks to people like Vokha, like Motor, Givi (the battalion commanders of Sparta and Somalia. – Ed.) and Alexander Vladimirovich Zakharchenko and thousands of those who are now on the front lines ” , – RIA Novosti quotes him.

On May 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the father of the commander of the Sparta battalion Vladimir Zhoga, who died during a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass, and presented him with the Star of the Hero of Russia, which was awarded to his son posthumously.

Earlier, on March 5, the head of the DPR said that Zhoga died in Volnovakha, ensuring the exit of civilians from the city, RT reports.

In Ukraine, the special operation of the Russian Federation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which Putin announced on February 24, continues. The situation in the region escalated significantly in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics announced the evacuation of residents to Russia and turned to Moscow for help.
