More than 3.06 million people in North Korea fell ill with a fever

The National Emergency Headquarters of North Korea (DPRK) on May 25 reported that between May 23 and 24, the number of patients who were diagnosed with fever increased by 115,970 people. Thus, the total number of detected cases of fever exceeded 3.06 million, reports the Central Telegraph Agency (CTAC).

“As of 18:00 on May 24, since the end of April, the total number of cases of fever is more than 3,064,880 people, of which more than 2,741,470 (89.448%) have recovered and at least 323,330 (10.55%) are being treated” , the agency said in a statement.

The total number of deaths reached 68.

On May 22, it was reported that the disease was found in 2.64 million people in North Korea and it is spreading rapidly.

The day before, the United States expressed its readiness to help the DPRK resist the active infection of citizens with COVID-19. The administration of US President Joe Biden pointed to the “serious problem” that North Korea faced due to the pandemic. Also, South Korea and Russia were ready to provide medical assistance, reporting the existence of a plan.

The outbreak of COVID-19 in North Korea was recorded on May 12, when the leader of the DPRK said that an emergency situation arose in the country due to the coronavirus, after which he demanded that the government take measures to stop the spread of the disease.
