Named the most popular applications in the Windows Store

Microsoft announced the results of the Store Community Choice Awards, which determined the best store programs according to users. In addition, the company also named the best software according to the editors of the digital platform.

The winners of the “popular vote” in the Microsoft Store were Speedtest and ShareX. The first utility is used to measure the speed of the Internet connection, and the second allows you to quickly capture or record a selected area of the screen and share the resulting file. The second line of the rating was shared by the Torrex Lite BitTorrent client and the Fluent Screen Recorder program for capturing the contents of the display.

First place awards in the File Management category went to the Files App file manager and the Rufus bootable USB drive application. The second place is taken by 8 Zip and One Commander file managers. In the Open Platform discipline, there are three winners at once: Auto Dark Mode (schedules the switching time between light and dark interface), EarTrumpet (volume control) and ModernFlyouts (replaces regular pop-up windows with volume and brightness sliders).

The Microsoft Store editors selected the winners in the Best Video App category from Disney+, Hulu, and Tubi customers. Spotify, FluentCast and Grover Pro were recognized as the best audio software, and Canva, paint.net and Wondershare Filmora were recognized as the best creative solutions. Editors of Microsoft named Discord as the leader among clients of social networks.

It is noteworthy that Microsoft excluded games from the lists of contenders for this year’s awards. According to rumors, this may be due to the fact that regulators are still considering a deal for Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion.
