Netflix has shut down its service in Russia

A company representative confirmed the information about the shutdown to AFP.

A company spokesman said that Netflix was waiting for the expiration of previously paid subscriptions of Russian users to finally stop the service in the country.

On March 6, Netflix announced that it was shutting down customer service in Russia due to the outbreak of war in Ukraine. According to the streaming service, due to the exit from the Russian market Netflix lost about 700 thousand paid subscriptions. In total, the platform had more than 221 million subscribers at the end of 2021.

It will be recalled that YouTube video hosting has decided not to leave Russia and will make every effort to combat the spread of content with inaccurate information.

In early March, Google suspended the sale of advertising on its services in Russia, and in mid-April – blocked all payments from Russia.
