Peskov called the timing of the indexation of the minimum wage in Russia

The indexation of the minimum wage (SMIC) in Russia will be carried out from June 1, as well as the indexation of pensions and the cost of living. On May 26, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

“From June 1, because the cost of living and the minimum wage must be simultaneously (indexed. – Ed.), They cannot be taken separately,” Peskov said.

Earlier on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting of the Presidium of the State Council on Social Issues, called for a 10% increase in pensions for non-working pensioners from June 1. Thus, the average pension will be 19,360 rubles.

During the meeting, the president also announced an increase in the subsistence minimum by 10% from June 1. On average, the cost of living in the country will be 13,919 rubles. The minimum wage will also be indexed by 10%.

On May 9, Labor Minister Anton Kotyakov said that the Russian government had submitted proposals to the president on additional indexation of pensions, social benefits and the minimum wage. He stated that such measures would reduce the poverty rate in the country. At the same time, the minister clarified, there are several options for additional indexation parameters.

As Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, said on May 6, additional indexation of pensions, social payments and the minimum wage will be made automatically. At the same time, citizens will not need to write an application for indexation, she explained.
