Putin pointed to the openness of the Russian economy in the new realities

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, May 24, said that under the new conditions, the Russian economy will be open. The country will expand cooperation with those states that are interested in this.

“Under the new conditions, the Russian economy will definitely be open. <…> Moreover, we will expand cooperation with those countries that are interested in mutually beneficial cooperation,” Putin said at a meeting on the development of certain areas of the transport complex.

In addition, the head of state added that plans for the development of transport infrastructure should be promoted at the same high, dynamic pace.

The day before, Putin said that the Russian economy withstands the blow with dignity, despite the sanctions, stressing that “all the main macroeconomic indicators speak of this.”

On May 21, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev said that the sanctions imposed against Russia by Western countries are an incentive for the country to search for new logistics corridors. According to him, the direction of logistics is being developed through the well-known international transport corridor “North-South”. On the Russian side, the route on it passes through the ports of Olya, Astrakhan and Makhachkala.

On May 19, Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov, during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, said that Russia is working on additional supply channels and logistics from friendly countries for the supply of spare parts and components in the energy sector.

On April 29, the Ministry of Industry and Trade told Izvestia that, together with the Ministry of Transport, they are working on the development of multimodal supply chains. New chains are being built for all groups of goods, the delivery of which was difficult after the imposition of sanctions by countries unfriendly to Russia.
