Real Madrid goalkeeper Lunin became the third Ukrainian to win the Champions League

Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin became the third Ukrainian football player in history to win the Champions League.

Before the 23-year-old goalkeeper, the tournament was won by Andriy Shevchenko as part of AC Milan in the 2002/03 season, as well as Anatoly Tymoshchuk with Bayern in the 2012/13 season.

After the final, in which Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 1-0, Lunin wrapped the Champions League trophy in the Ukrainian flag and posted a message on Instagram:

“The Champions Cup with the Ukrainian flag. Now it is important not to forget about our country and what is happening. I hope this moment and this game brought smiles to the Ukrainians.”

It is worth noting that Andrei Lunin is the reserve goalkeeper of Real Madrid and did not enter the field in the last Champions League.
