Representatives of the Russian Federation were not invited to the ceremony in memory of the victims of the bombing of Hiroshima

The authorities of the Japanese city of Hiroshima did not invite representatives of Russia to the ceremony in memory of the victims of the US atomic bombing. Russian Ambassador Mikhail Galuzin announced this on May 25.

“The authorities of Hiroshima, as the organizers of the annual event held on August 6, announced that they were not inviting representatives of Russia to it. Such a shameful step is another evidence that the leadership of the Japanese movement, which calls itself anti-nuclear, in fact, once again turned its back on the memory of tens of thousands of its fellow citizens who became innocent victims of the barbaric atomic bombing in August 1945, ”said Galuzin. His statement was published on the Facebook page of the Russian Embassy in Japan.

The Russian ambassador noted that the organizers of the event did not invite the Russian side to the event because of a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass.

“The organizers agreed to the aforementioned “refusal” under the pretext of our special operation. It would be good for them to remember that there we are forced to eradicate Nazism, encouraged by the collective West. The same Nazism, the alliance with which became one of the key causes of the national catastrophe that befell Japan in 1945,” the ambassador added.

He recalled that it was on Moscow’s initiative that the Russian-American treaty on measures to further reduce and limit strategic offensive arms was extended.

“It was we who ensured the confirmation by the entire nuclear five of the fundamentally important understanding that there can be no winners in a nuclear war, and it should not be unleashed. It is our country that is a pioneer in the field of peaceful use of atomic energy,” concluded Galuzin.

In 1945, an American B-29 bomber dropped a four-tonne uranium bomb called “Baby” on the city center. The radius of complete destruction was 1.6 km, the radius of the blast wave was about 20 km.

As a result of the explosion of the atomic bomb in one day, according to various estimates, from 70 thousand to 100 thousand people died. By the end of 1945, the number of victims had risen to 140,000: people were dying from their wounds and exposure. The city was wiped off the face of the earth.
