Reproduces the movement and warmth of lips: in China, a device was created for kissing at a distance

A Chinese gadget allows you to send a realistic kiss to a person who is not nearby.

Chinese inventors surprise again. This time they presented a device that allows couples living at a distance to share “real” physical intimacy – to kiss. Information about this gadget caused a frenzy among Chinese social media users.

CNN writes about it.

The $41 device, equipped with pressure sensors and actuators, is able to simulate a real kiss by reproducing the pressure, movement and temperature of the user’s lips. Along with a kiss, it can also transmit human sounds made by a user who is not nearby.

People’s opinions about the need for such a device are divided: some call it “ridiculous”, others see something “vulgar” and “creepy” in this gadget.

The gadget was patented by Changzhou Professional Institute of Mechatronic Technology.

“In university, I was dating my girlfriend long distance, so we only talked on the phone. That’s where the inspiration for this device came from,” explained Jiang Zhongli, the lead inventor who developed the device.

How it works

To send a kiss, users must download the smartphone app and connect the device to a charging port. After pairing with their partner in the app, couples can start a video call and send each other their kiss cues.
