Roskomnadzor, at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office, blocked the website of the human rights center “Memorial” (it was entered by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation into the register of NPO-foreign agents and liquidated), follows from the agency’s data.
According to the RKN universal service for checking the blocking of pages and sites, access to the memohrc.org website is limited at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office dated May 28. The blocking began on the same day – May 28, follows from the data of the Roskomsvoboda organization, which unloads information prohibited in the Russian Federation from the register.
The website of the HRC “Memorial” in Russia is currently unavailable, “Interfax” was convinced.

Liquidation of HRC “Memorial” in the Russian Federation
On December 29, 2021, the Moscow City Court, at the suit of the city prosecutor’s office, liquidated the human rights center. The day before, the Supreme Court of Russia, at the suit of the Prosecutor General’s Office, liquidated the international historical and educational society “Memorial” (recognized in Russia as an NGO-foreign agent).
The reasons for the liquidation of organizations were repeated, gross violations of laws and other legal acts by them. The suit of the Moscow City Prosecutor’s Office, in particular, stated that the materials of the HRC “Memorial” of the organization “contain linguistic and psychological signs of justifying the activities of members of international terrorist and extremist organizations, for example, such as Artpodgotovka and Jehovah’s Witnesses banned in Russia.”
The decision of the Moscow City Court stated that “from the circumstances established in the course of the trial in the present case, it follows that the Interregional Public Organization” Human Rights Center “Memorial”, being in accordance with the procedure established by law recognized as an organization performing the functions of a foreign agent, in its activities demonstrates a steady disregard for the requirements of the Federal Law “On non-profit organizations”.
On April 5, the First Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction dismissed the appeal of human rights activists against the decision to liquidate the HRC “Memorial”, it came into force.
