Russian military delivered 80 tons of humanitarian aid to residents of the Kharkov region

The Russian military delivered 80 tons of humanitarian aid to civilians in the Kharkiv region during a special operation to protect the population of Donbass. This was announced on May 28 by the Ministry of Defense (MO) of Russia.

It is noted that the humanitarian aid was accompanied by the military police of the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation in trucks.

Food and basic necessities were brought to the settlements, the press service of the military department said. According to them, first of all, the necessary assistance is provided to families with children.

“Buckwheat, canned food, sunflower oil, sugar, soap, shampoos, toothpaste, diapers for children and adults. But, the main thing is flour, salt and yeast. Here they recently started baking bread in an organized manner,” follows from the material of the ministry.

It is emphasized that schoolchildren, pensioners’ clubs, small public organizations, as well as large companies from all over Russia help the residents of the Kharkiv region.

The help that came from the Russian Federation is distributed to neighborhoods, basements and shelters. Volunteers help in this work.

Local residents, in turn, thank the Russian military for their assistance.

Earlier on Friday, May 27, it was reported that two trucks of humanitarian aid for animals collected as part of the Zoodrug campaign arrived in Kherson, Melitopol, Donetsk and Mariupol. Food and other essentials were donated to local activists for distribution to shelters and petting zoos. They will also help homeless animals.

On May 21, it was reported that a train of 68 wagons with 2,400 tons of Russian humanitarian aid arrived in the Lugansk People’s Republic. The Donbas Help Train was organized by the Popular Front together with the Russian Railways (RZD).

Prior to that, on May 16, Dmitry Nesterov, chairman of the Moscow Suvorovtsy public organization, said that public figures, with the assistance of the Russian Ministry of Defense, handed over more than 60 tons of humanitarian aid to civilians in the Kharkov and Kherson regions. Moscow Suvorovites have opened a point for receiving humanitarian aid to residents of Donbass and the liberated cities and villages of Ukraine, he specified.

On February 24, Russia announced the start of a special operation to protect Donbass. The operation began against the backdrop of the situation in the Donbass that worsened in mid-February. The authorities of the DPR and LPR reported increased shelling by Ukrainian troops, announced the evacuation of civilians in the Russian Federation and asked for recognition of independence. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree.
