Scotland prepares second cruise ship to accommodate Ukrainian refugees

The MS Ambition cruise liner arrived in the Scottish port city of Glasgow on Thursday, which, together with the MS Victoria, will be used for the temporary resettlement of Ukrainian refugees.

It is reported by “European truth” with reference to the BBC.
In Ireland, refugees from Ukraine will be settled in a military camp due to lack of space

The MS Ambition liner is capable of accommodating 1,750 people in 714 cabins. It will be at anchor for six months, so the settlers can leave it at any time.

Refugees from Ukraine on deck will have access to restaurants, recreation areas for children, shops and cleaning services. They will also be provided with access to medical and social services.

Neil Gray, Minister of the Scottish Government for Ukrainian Refugees, stressed that the cruise ship is only a temporary place for refugees to settle.

“We don’t want people to spend more time in temporary settlements like cruise ships than is necessary,” he said, adding that the Scottish government is committed to placing as many people as possible with volunteers or providing them with longer-term accommodation.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Scottish government has introduced a sponsorship scheme that provides payments to Scots who agree to host Ukrainian refugees.

Scotland pledged to accept 3,000 refugees from Ukraine, but now this number has exceeded 15,000.
