The ambassador was outraged by the refusal of Nagasaki to invite the Russian Federation to the funeral ceremony

The decision of the Nagasaki city administration not to invite representatives of Russia to participate in the ceremony in memory of the victims of the atomic bombing demonstrates the neglect of bilateral relations between the Russian Federation and Japan. This was announced on Friday, May 27, by the head of the Russian diplomatic mission, Mikhail Galuzin.

“In a comment dated May 25, we have already expressed our negative attitude towards the decision of the Hiroshima authorities. All this fully applies to the unfriendly step taken by the Nagasaki City Hall, ”he wrote on Facebook (belongs to the Meta organization, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).

The diplomat noted that such actions are an example of disrespect for the “positive pages” of the joint history of Russia and Japan. The great importance of Nagasaki in these relations, according to Galuzin, “is evidenced by the dozens of graves of our compatriots remaining in the city, carefully arranged by local activists and the Russian diplomatic mission.”

The fact that the delegation of the Russian Federation will not participate in events dedicated to the events of 1945, the authorities of Nagasaki announced on Thursday, May 26. The Kyodo news agency confirmed that the local administration does not plan to issue invitations to the Russian and Belarusian ambassadors.

The day before, Mikhail Galuzin said that the authorities of Hiroshima also opposed the participation of diplomats from the Russian Federation in the ceremony in memory of the victims of the bombing. He stressed that the organizers of the event made such a decision because of the special operation to protect Donbass. At the same time, the head of the Russian diplomatic mission recalled that it was Moscow’s initiative that the Russian-American treaty on measures to further reduce and limit strategic offensive arms was extended.

As Dmitry Gusev, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Control Committee, emphasized in an interview with Izvestia, Japan wanted to insult Russia in this way.

On August 6, 1945, the atomic bomb “Kid” was dropped on Hiroshima by a US Air Force B-29 Enola Gay bomber. The power of the explosion was 13 kilotons of TNT, the radius of destruction was 1.6 km, the radius of the blast wave was 20 km. According to various estimates, from 70 thousand to 100 thousand people died on the first day after the explosion. By the end of 1945, the number of victims had risen to 140,000.

Three days later, another bomb, Fat Man, was dropped on Nagasaki. The power of the explosion was about 21 kilotons of TNT. About 74 thousand people died.

On September 2, 1945, Japan signed the Unconditional Surrender Act in World War II aboard the American battleship Missouri, which entered Tokyo Bay.
