The authorities of Anapa began to expand the streets in anticipation of the holiday season. It is expected that in connection with the temporary closure of the airport, the traffic load in the city will increase, reports on May 23 “Resort City Anapa”.

The authorities of Anapa discussed measures to unload the streets at a glider meeting, which was held by the mayor of the city Vasily Shvets at the Municipality Management Center.

In particular, one-way traffic has already been organized along the streets near the Red Square shopping center, another section of Lenin Street has been expanded, Pionersky Prospekt has been renovated, Krasnoarmeyskaya and Narodnaya streets have been expanded and asphalted, and Pervomaiskaya is being repaired.

“Until the end of the year, we are obliged to provide a stable alternative to entry and exit from the city. Mirnaya Street will be connected to the Anapa Highway through Shevchenko 2nd, and then a passage will be built in the direction of the Supsekhskoye Highway,” Shvets said.

The main flow of tourists will be redirected to rail transport in order not to avoid a transport collapse and ensure the availability of the resort.

It is noted that the number of wagons has been doubled. In addition, the schedule includes 19 additional trains in May, 32 in June. Also added trains from Minsk, Krasnoyarsk, Yekaterinburg, Murmansk, Tomsk, Irkutsk, Novokuznetsk, Kirov, Ufa, Smolensk and other cities.

Earlier, on May 18, the Federal Air Transport Agency announced the extension of the temporary flight restriction regime at 11 airports in the south and central part of Russia until May 25. So, flights are limited to the airports of Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol and Elista.

The ban on flights to Russia’s southern airports was introduced on February 24 and subsequently extended several times.

The airspace is closed along the western border with Ukraine and Belarus at all altitudes due to the situation in the region.
