The dermatologist called the main distinguishing symptom of monkeypox

Monkeypox is characterized by a pronounced increase in lymph nodes, this infection is similar to black lymphadenopathy. On May 28, in an interview with URA.RU, a dermatologist, cosmetologist Natela Grishina told.

Grishina also listed other symptoms, such as fever, fever, weakness, and skin rashes that appear on the third day, primarily on the mucous membranes, on the face, on the feet, palms, and genitals.

“On the second or third day, the rash turns into pustules (pustules. – Ed.), containing biological fluid, which soon begin to crust,” she explained.

The dermatologist warned against peeling off these crusts, as otherwise deep scars will appear, which lead to disfigurement of the skin.

Grishina added that outwardly distinguishing a rash from monkeypox from other infections is quite difficult.

“With similar manifestations in the form of fever, skin rashes, chicken pox, measles, syphilis also occur, even a banal drug allergy can manifest itself in this way,” Grishina emphasized.

When a rash appeared, she advised laboratory diagnostics using specific tests.

Earlier, on May 27, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that the world community should introduce joint measures to combat the spread of monkeypox among humans, which could possibly help prevent an increase in the number of cases. According to the WHO, cases of human infection with this type of smallpox have been identified in more than 20 countries.

On May 25, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Virology of the RMANPO, infectious disease specialist, Professor Elena Malinnikova noted that monkeypox is characterized by an increase in lymph nodes. She also pointed out that monkeypox is characterized by fever, severe headache, and muscle pain.

Rospotrebnadzor advised Russians to avoid contact with rodents and primates, which are potential carriers of monkeypox. According to experts, monkeypox is not highly contagious. Transmission of the pathogen by airborne droplets is possible “with prolonged personal contact.”

On May 20, a virologist at the Center for Epidemiology named after Gamalei Alexander Butenko, in an interview with Pravda.Ru, said that the lethality of the monkeypox virus reaches 15% and is comparable to medieval smallpox, but the infection will not become global, like the coronavirus. The specialist recalled that humanity was able to cope with smallpox thanks to the vaccine.
