The lawyer assessed the prospects of the court because of the name of the network “Vkusno i Tochka”

If the name of the network – the successor of McDonald’s “Vkusno i Tochka” is temporary, then the owner of the fast food chain “Eda i Tochka” in Vladivostok should not go to court. This was announced on June 15 in an interview with Izvestia by lawyer Mikhail Pryadko.
“I had to go to Pushkinskaya from the other end of Moscow”

“On the one hand, the owner of Food and Tochka can try to get some kind of compensation, since the name is really a bit similar, plus the trademark was registered in 2020,” he said.

However, if the name of the new network is temporary, then the court is unlikely to seriously consider a possible claim. The plaintiff can bring in linguistic experts, but it hardly makes sense given the imminent name change of the chain – the successor to McDonald’s, he said.

“Here it is worth taking into account the fact that the new network is federal, which also plays to their advantage, plus it gives jobs to people and participates in the process of import substitution. There are a lot of factors that will play in favor of the new institution, ”he shared his opinion.

Earlier on Wednesday, it became known that Vladivostok drew attention to the similarity of the names of the regional chain of fast food cafes “Eda i Tochka” with the brand of the network – the successor to McDonald’s “Vkusno i Tochka”. The head of the seaside network, Sergei Ponkratov, announced his intention to change the name of the new Russian brand through negotiations or through the courts.

At the same time, he noted that customers were the first to notice the similarity in the names of the two networks. The name “Food and Point” is registered as a trademark in 2020, he added.

On the same day, the press service of Vkusno i Tochka, which had previously developed under the American McDonald’s brand, denied Izvestia media information that this was a temporary name and that it would be changed.

On June 12, the general director of the company in the Russian Federation, Oleg Paroev, announced the new name “Vkusno i dotka” of the former McDonald’s. In a conversation with journalists, he said that they thought about this name for a very long time, decided, wanted to make it simple for all guests of 850 enterprises. Paroev emphasized that this name “is easily integrated into existing service concepts.”
