The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation published on May 26 footage of the fortified positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) captured by units of the Airborne Forces.
The footage shows trenches, long-term firing points dug in the hills, and abandoned uniforms. Russian troops also found drugs there.
“We acted in two assault groups. The nationalists put up strong resistance, but thanks to well-coordinated and confident actions, the company fully completed its task and at the indicated time took possession of an advantageous line, ”said the deputy commander of the parachute company.
The Russian Defense Ministry noted that as a result of the artillery strike, the enemy suffered losses and, upon subsequent contact with the Airborne Forces units, abandoned their positions and retreated.
On May 25, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian troops launched a strike with three Kalibr missiles at the military infrastructure of Ukraine by a frigate from the Black Sea.
On the same day, it was reported that the RF Armed Forces destroyed the production workshops of the Motor Sich plant in Zaporozhye, which produced aircraft engines for the combat aviation of the Ukrainian Air Force, including drones.
On February 24, Russia announced the start of a special operation to protect Donbass. The operation began against the backdrop of the situation in the Donbass that worsened in mid-February. The authorities of the DPR and LPR reported increased shelling by Ukrainian troops, announced the evacuation of civilians in the Russian Federation and asked for recognition of independence. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree.
