“We drew attention to the report of the NGO New Lines Institute for Strategy and Policy, circulated in the American media, in which Russia is accused of inciting genocide in Ukraine. The next Russophobic insinuations are part of a campaign orchestrated by the West to demonize the Russian armed forces, ”the agency’s commentary posted on Facebook (belongs to the Meta organization recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation) says.

Also, representatives of the diplomatic mission appealed to the American public with a call not to ignore the actions of Ukrainian radicals, who, “hiding behind the needs of the defense, take away money and cars from civilians, open indiscriminate fire on refugees, terrorize and torture everyone who does not share their Nazi ideology.”

Earlier in the day, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported open calls for genocide of the Russian-speaking and Greek diaspora by militants of the Right Sector (an extremist organization banned in the Russian Federation) in the Velikonovoselkovsky district of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).

Before that, on May 11, the director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) spoke about the intention of the US State Department to launch a campaign in Russian society to discredit the special operation. According to him, “a set of primitive but alarmist slogans designed to sow panic has been prepared for stuffing into Telegram channels and social networks.”

On April 30, the Russian embassy commented on accusations by the US Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security that Russia was using “undeclared chemical weapons.” Diplomats urged Washington to abandon provocations that could lead to the death of tens of thousands of Ukrainian citizens, as well as cause an environmental and humanitarian catastrophe.

On March 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law criminalizing dissemination of knowingly false information about the Russian Armed Forces. Violators may face imprisonment or a fine.

Earlier, on February 27, Kyiv filed an application with the International Criminal Court to initiate proceedings against Russia. According to representatives of the country, there was a “planning of acts of genocide” on Ukrainian territory.

On February 24, Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special operation to protect the civilian population of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR). It was preceded by an aggravation of the situation in the region, an appeal by the leadership of the DPR and LPR to the Russian Federation with a request for help, and the subsequent recognition by Russia of the independence of the Donbass republics.

The Ukrainian authorities have been conducting a military operation against the residents of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup d’etat in Ukraine, since 2014.
