The Russian Embassy urged the United States to return to the dialogue on the nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction

The Russian Embassy in Washington called on the US authorities to return to a professional and mutually beneficial dialogue in the field of non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

“We call on the American side to return to a professional and mutually beneficial dialogue in the field of WMD nonproliferation,” the Russian diplomatic mission said in a statement.

Accordingly, the Embassy commented on the speech of Senior Deputy Secretary of State Bonnie Jenkins at the open consultations as part of the Comprehensive Review of the Implementation of UNSCR 1540, in which the Russian side was presented as a threat to international security.

It is noted that the American colleagues “should stop using specialized platforms in the field of arms control and non-proliferation to settle political scores and unwind Russophobic hysteria.”

In addition, the embassy recalled that the Russian Defense Ministry has “irrefutable evidence of the creation by Washington of a network of military biological laboratories on the territory of Ukraine.” It is the United States that violates the global WMD nonproliferation regime, the diplomatic mission concluded.

On May 6, it became known that US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield, in an interview with PBS, announced the use of chemical weapons by Russia in Syria, without providing concrete evidence.

On April 30, Russian diplomats urged the United States to change their minds and stop preparing provocations using weapons of mass destruction (WMD) in Ukraine. This is how the mission commented on accusations by US Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Bonnie Jenkins about the use of “undeclared chemical weapons” by Russia.

In March, the Russian Embassy in the United States called provocative and unsubstantiated another statement by the US State Department about the possibility of Russia using chemical weapons. The diplomats also called on the American side to abandon disinformation and “intensify the process of chemical demilitarization of their state.”
