The Tretyakov Gallery will show Repin’s painting in a vandal-proof display case

After the successful restoration of Ivan the Terrible and his son Ivan on November 16, 1581 by Ilya Repin, the Tretyakov Gallery plans to design a showcase specifically for this work, in which anti-vandal glass with an anti-reflective coating will be installed.

Why the exhibition of the famous Russian artist in France is an outstanding event

According to the general director of the museum, Zelfira Tregulova, the glass will be the same as on Botticelli’s “Spring” stored in the Uffizi. Now the Tretyakov Gallery is looking for sponsors who are ready to pay for the creation of such a showcase.

“There are already drawings and preliminary agreements with the manufacturer. But we must find funding and wait for the launch of parallel imports. In Russia, alas, they don’t make such glass,” Tregulova said.

Preliminary employees of the Tretyakov Gallery plan to return “Ivan the Terrible” to the permanent exhibition at the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
