A dual-currency zone has been introduced in the liberated part of the Zaporozhye region, from now on it is possible to pay in hryvnias and rubles there, Vladimir Rogov, a representative of the regional administration, said on May 25.
“A dual-currency zone has been introduced in the region. You can pay both in hryvnias and rubles. All benefits will be paid in rubles. The arrival of the ruble has significantly revived the economy of the region,” Rogov said.
According to him, the International Settlement Bank has entered the region.
“The software has already been set up. Settlement accounts of state enterprises and legal entities are opened. In the coming days, the bank will also begin servicing individuals,” the representative of the regional administration emphasized.
Earlier, on May 23, a dual-currency zone was introduced in the Kherson region. In the near future, the first branch of a Russian bank will open there.
On May 18, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin announced that Russia would restore facilities in the liberated territories of Ukraine and finance them. In addition, it is planned to launch the maximum turnover of the ruble, and residents of the Zaporozhye region this month to pay pensions and salaries in rubles. It is noted that the authorities are taking all necessary measures to help the population integrate.
On May 7, the head of the Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, noted that the railway passenger communication of the Crimea with the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions would be restored in full. A day earlier, it became known that residents of the Kherson region would be entitled to Russian citizenship.
