German Chancellor Scholz rejected the possibility of Germany stopping Russian gas imports

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz rejected the possibility of Germany stopping gas imports from Russia. He announced this during a conversation with residents of the German city of Essen, which was broadcast on the government’s official portal.

“We can say that we will overcome this situation (with the issue of gas supply. – Gazeta.Ru). But it will be more difficult to do this if we refuse what, although in small quantities, but comes (from Russia. – Gazeta.Ru). We should not unnecessarily complicate our lives, this is my personal conviction,” Scholz said.

According to him, Germany will be able to survive the energy crisis due to the fact that Berlin made timely decisions affecting, for example, the filling of gas storage facilities in Germany, the launch of coal-fired power plants and the construction of LNG terminals.

Scholz also added that Germany must expand its infrastructure for gas imports so that it will never be dependent.

Earlier, the German chancellor said that Germany should not unilaterally force the implementation of a plan aimed at abandoning Russian natural gas. Thus, he answered the question of whether Germany should abandon Russian NG on its own earlier than planned due to the reduction in its supplies.
