Most of these changes will be tested first in the “beta” – a test version of the app for very enthusiastic users.
Tech blog WABetaInfo looks for the biggest changes in this app and posts them online.
And a new blog post reveals that WhatsApp is working on at least eight changes to the app.
What’s coming on WhatsApp?
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has slightly optimized the page for creating text status updates.
A new feature is in development that will allow you to make multiple chats disappear at once.
Another update adds a “new introduction” to disappearing (or self-deleting) messages.
A new WhatsApp app is being developed for macOS.
WhatsApp creates a redesigned security page for the WhatsApp desktop.
Chat filters come to WhatsApp accounts.
A shortcut to reply to messages is added for the web and desktop clients.
And WhatsApp also adds “rich previews” when you share a link as a status update.
Unfortunately, it’s unclear when exactly any of these changes will go live.
It may take days, weeks, or even months for WhatsApp to release them to the general public.
And WhatsApp can even be so deterred by an idea that it’s scrapped altogether.
How to join the WhatsApp beta
To download WhatsApp Beta for your smartphone, you need to go to Google Play on your Android and search for WhatsApp.
Scroll down the page until you see “Become a Beta Tester”.
Tap the “I’m in” button, then tap “Join” to confirm.
Now all you have to do is wait for the update to the beta version of the app.
Participating in the WhatsApp beta on iPhone is more difficult and has a limited capacity.
